A1 Template
Step 1: Define the password you want to backup.
Choose which password you want to keep long term. It can be a crypto wallet's passphrase (also known as 25th Word) or any other important password that merits a timeless backup. You may choose a password of up to 24 characters.
The A1 Template supports the English Alphabet, Numbers and 10 symbols:
- Aa Bb Cc Dd Ee Ff Gg Hh Ii Jj Kk Ll Mm Nn Oo Pp Qq Rr Ss Tt Uu Vv Ww Xx Yy Zz
- 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 0
- ! @ ? $ % & * - _ .
Step 2: Transcribe your password into the guide card.
Grab your blue pen and the password guide card included in the package, then write your password on it.
This step is optional but highly recommended, it helps to more easily identify which character corresponds to what column and reduce error risk.
Double check everything is correct.
Step 3: Prefill the guide sticker.
Grab the marker and start placing dots in every cell where it corresponds. Take your time to make sure you are carefully inputting each and every character.
Please remember that you can make a distinction between Capital and Lowercase letters, depending on which corner of the cell you mark.
NOTE: If you skip this step you may be at risk of making a mistake when permanently punching later on. We highly recommend you to prefill with a marker and verify.
Double check everything is correct.
Step 4: Get ready to punch the plate.
Grab the heaviest hammer/mallet you have and look for a flat and sturdy surface (wood, metal). Additionally, get the center punch tool and safety glasses. We also recommend to protect your ears.
Step 4: Punch the alignment cells.
The A1 Template includes two different alignment cells. These punches will become very useful later on when you decode your password with the recovery acetate.
Take the center punch tool and give one single good hit dead center in each alignment cell.
NOTE: If you do not punch these cells it will become much difficult to decode your password later on. It may also put the integrity of your password at risk due to misalignment. We highly recommend you to punch these cells.
Step 5: Punch the dots into the plate.
Proceed to punch the dots by giving one single good hit into the plate with your hammer using the center punch tool.
Take your time to punch the dots in the correct cell and position, this is the most tedious part. You need to stay focused to avoid hurting your fingers with the hammer and to punch everything in place.
Reminder: Protect your eyes and ears.

Step 6: Destroy the guide card & the vinyl sticker.
After you have punched the password unto the steel, there's really no need to keep the conversion sheet nor the vinyl sticker so you can get rid of them by burning 🔥.
Step 7: Put your backup in a safe spot.
Once you've finished the entire process, put your steel backup in a safe spot only you know.
🎉 Done!
Want to be extra safe?
You may decode your password from the steel backup (using the recovery acetate) and see if it matches 100% exactly with the original. This is a tedious task but it's the easiest way to compare and verify your new timeless backup.
B1 Template
Step 1: Define the seedphrase you want to backup.
Choose which wallet you want to keep long term. It can be your hardware wallet, your phone/desktop wallet or even a paper wallet. After you've decided which one, get your seedphrase backup ready in hand.
Step 2: Prepare to convert your seedphrase.
Grab your blue pen and the conversion sheet included in the package, then write your seedphrase on it.
Double check everything is correct.
Step 3: Convert your seedphrase into numbers.
By comparing each word of your seedphrase with the BIP39 standard, you can convert them into a unique number between 1 and 2048. You need to do this conversion for each word of your seedphrase and write the numbers in the conversion sheet in the same order as your original seedphrase.
A paper BIP39 English wordlist is included in the package, or you can also refer to the original source.
WARNING: Do not input your seedphrase digitally. Please do this step 100% offline with pen and paper. Do not use tools like "CTRL+F" to convert your seed.
Example:
1. various 2. gadget 3. target 4. bridge 5. crystal 6. transfer 7. occur 8. accuse 9. hospital 10. usage 11. million 12. control |
