Step 1: Define the seedphrase you want to backup.

Choose which wallet you want to keep long term. It can be your hardware wallet, your phone/desktop wallet or even a paper wallet. After you've decided which one, get your seedphrase backup ready in hand.

Step 2: Prepare to convert your seedphrase.

Grab your blue pen and the conversion sheet included in the package, then write your seedphrase on it.

Step 3: Convert your seedphrase into numbers.

By comparing each word of your seedphrase with the BIP39 standard, you can convert them into a unique number between 1 and 2048. You need to do this conversion for each word of your seedphrase and write the numbers in the conversion sheet in the same order as your original seedphrase.

A paper BIP39 English wordlist is included in the package, or you can also refer to the original source.

WARNING: Do not input your seedphrase digitally. Please do this step 100% offline with pen and paper. Do not use tools like "CTRL+F" to convert your seed.

Double check everything is correct.

Step 4: Get ready to stamp the numbers.

Grab the heaviest hammer/mallet you have and look for a flat and sturdy surface (wood, metal). Additionally, get the numerical stamps and safety glasses. We also recommend to protect your ears.

Step 6: Stamp the numbers into the plate.

Begin by ordering the stamps in numerical order on the table. Then, proceed to stamp the numbers by giving one single good hit into the plate with your hammer using the stamps.

Take your time to stamp the numbers in the correct order and orientation, this is the most tedious part. You need to stay focused to avoid hurting your fingers with the hammer and to put all numbers in their corresponding place and order.

Tip: Remember that 6 = 9 in the numerical stamps, depending on the orientation.

Final product:

Double check everything is correct.

 

Step 7: Stamp your pin. (optional)

Congrats! You have now finished to stamp your plate. If you want, you can add a pin at the bottom row of the plate or write a note with a marker.

Tip: We don't recommend stamping/writing your passphrase there (in case you have one).

Step 8: Secure the plates. (optional)

If you ordered two or more plates, you received two sets of screws/nuts. With those you can blend the two plates together and secure the screws to bring even more privacy and security. All plates include two 5mm perforations on opposite sides to make this possible.

Step 9: Destroy the conversion sheet.

After you have punched the seed unto the steel, there's really no need to keep the conversion sheet so you can get rid of it by burning it 🔥.

Step 10: Put your plate in a safe spot.

Once you've finished the entire process, put your steel backup in a safe spot only you know.

You may decode your seedphrase from the steel backup and see if it matches 100% exactly with the original. This is a tedious task but it's the easiest way to compare and verify your new timeless backup.

 

 

Notes:

• In the numerical stamping set, 6 is the same as 9 (upside down).
• If your seedphrase is a 8 or 12 word format, you can still use this product.
• This is our recommended method for setting up the backup, if you have your own method for encoding the words or have an alphabetical stamping set, feel free to use it.
• The numbers don't have to be perfectly aligned in each cell, functionality over looks.
